Do not tire of doing good!

A friend went to her small group meeting last night, and when the following verses were read out, she thought of me.

Ps 33:16:22

No king is saved by the multitude of an army;
A mighty man is not delivered by great strength.
A horse is a vain hope for safety;
Neither shall it deliver any by its great strength.
Behold, the eye of the Lord is on those who fear Him,
On those who hope in His mercy,
To deliver their soul from death,
And to keep them alive in famine.
Our soul waits for the Lord;
His is our help and our shield.
For our heart shall rejoice in Him,
Because we have trusted in His holy name.
Let Your mercy, O Lord, be upon us,
Just as we hope in You.

And when i read these verses, i was touched that she thought of me – she was someone who had gone through a difficult trial so many years ago, and we tried to encourage – we referring to not just my family, but my other christian friends as well. Sometimes we forget that God sees our efforts, no matter how small, and in due season, will remind us of His pleasure in our doing good. Yes the verses minister – the word of God always does. But the human touch is a touch that is physically appreciated.
God is Spirit and He touches us in our Spirit. He touches us physically too, in the soul and the flesh. But in the last two areas, He often uses His created beings. This reminds me of how when my neighbour prayed for me, as soon as he laid hands on me, his dog laid both paws on my knees!
I received more pleasant words today – both from the Word of God direct as well as my dear friend, Doreen. More medication for the healing of my bones!
